Wardrobe furniture has been around for a long time and there are certain times when nothing else will work. One example is when you don’t have a closet in your bedroom. In that case you can get a complete bedroom wardrobe furniture set that will have a set of large doors on the top that when opened reveal a large area to hang all of your clothes that you don’t want to fold or get wrinkled. Below that often times are a couple sets of drawers that you can place most of your other clothes including shoes and even purses if you want.

So where did the armoire come from? Well it’s originally from the Latin work chest which the French took and then the English got ahold of, how’s that for jumping around in history. By definition a armoire is is large cabinet or wardrobe storage area that was originally used to store weapons. Well aside from the functional aspect we talked about above with bedroom and any room in general not having proper closets to store things such as clothes, they also started to become a large part of interior decorating. If you purchased some wardrobe furniture for your master bedroom you would most likely get an entire set which would include a dresser and mirror set along with a bedroom frame that had the same decorative trip as the wardrobe storage cabinet.

I recently purchased a new home that is in the historical district of the city I live in and one of the bedrooms doesn’t have a closet at all. There isn’t even a place where I could have a builder come in and integrate one into the style of the room so wardrobe furniture was my only option.
